This policy covers ReelFlow — Video Controls & Downloader for Instagram, a Chrome extension published by Universal Calculators (universalcalculators.net). It explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data. For the website itself, see our site privacy policy.

The Short Version

ReelFlow collects nothing. There is no ReelFlow server, no account, no analytics, and no advertising. Nothing you do in the extension is ever sent to us or to any third party. Your settings are saved in your own browser, and the only network requests ReelFlow makes are to Instagram itself, when you ask it to download something you are looking at.

1. Information We Collect

None. ReelFlow does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any information about you. Specifically, the extension never gathers:

Your name, email address, or any account details
Your Instagram login, password, or session cookies
The reels, posts, profiles, or stories you view
Browsing history, on Instagram or anywhere else
Analytics, telemetry, usage statistics, or crash reports
Your IP address or device fingerprint
Anything at all that could identify you

We have no servers, no database, and no way to see who is using ReelFlow or what they do with it.

2. Your Settings

ReelFlow remembers a small set of preferences so it behaves the same each time you open Instagram: whether auto-next is on, whether download buttons are shown, your default playback speed, and your skip amount.

These are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never leave your computer, they are not synced to any account, and we cannot read them. Clearing your browser data for instagram.com, or uninstalling the extension, removes them.

3. Network Requests

Playback controls — seeking, skipping, pausing, speed, and auto-next — work entirely on the video element already loaded in the page and make no network requests at all.

When you download a video or image

Downloading is the only feature that talks to the network, and it only ever talks to Instagram:

A request to Instagram's own media API to find the highest-quality file for the post you are viewing. This runs in the Instagram page using your existing Instagram session, the same way the site itself does it.
A request to Instagram's content delivery network to fetch that file so your browser can save it. This one is sent without credentials.

Both requests go directly from your browser to Instagram. Nothing is routed through us, and no third party is involved. The downloaded file is saved straight to your device by Chrome — we never see it.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

Chrome asks you to approve a few permissions when you install ReelFlow. Here is what each one is used for:

host permissions — instagram.com

ReelFlow only runs on Instagram. This lets the control bar attach itself to the video you are watching. It has no access to any other website you visit.

scripting

Lets the popup read and update your ReelFlow settings on the Instagram tab you already have open — for example, applying a new default speed straight away.

sidePanel

Powers the optional side panel player, so you can keep Instagram open beside your work.

declarativeNetRequest

Adjusts a few browser security headers on Instagram frames only, which is what allows Instagram to load inside Chrome's side panel. The rule is fixed, ships with the extension, and applies to nothing outside instagram.com.

ReelFlow requests no permission that would let it read your other tabs, your history, your bookmarks, or your files.

5. On First Install

The first time you install ReelFlow, it opens one tab pointing at the ReelFlow page on universalcalculators.net, so you can see how it works. This happens on install only — never on updates or when you restart Chrome. That page is an ordinary web page and is covered by our site privacy policy.

6. Third Parties

ReelFlow contains no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. We do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone, because we do not have any data to share.

ReelFlow is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Your use of Instagram remains governed by Instagram's own privacy policy and terms of service. Please only download content you have the right to save, and respect the rights of the original creator.

7. Children's Privacy

ReelFlow is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If ReelFlow ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change. Any change that would involve collecting data would be described here before it ships.
